These boots have designed particularly to keep the developing and delicate feet of the young under maximum comfort and protection. They have magnificent upper made from the nubuck which is lightweight and durable material. The upper is completely waterproof but it also allows breathability to keep the young feet dry and fresh. The upper has the strong and durable lace up closure which features D ring and metal hooks to allow quick and secure fastening. The tongue and collar has been cushioned to prevent the stress on the ankle due to tight fastening. Just like any other style by KEEN®, these boots also have the KEEN® Patented Toe Protection. In this protection system the outsole of the boots have been wrapped on the toe area to make sort of front bumper which protects the toe on rough surfaces. The insole has been loaded with the comfort to keep the feet as comfortable as possible. This insole also has the shocks absorbing materials used in its construction to reduce the stress and fatigue. My son's first Keen! He love these, ordered them in Gargoyle and would love them in black as well. These run more narrow through the calf than others he have tried on. He have a really skinny calf and these fit perfect with jeans tucked in. He love the lace up at the front for a little added style. They seem a little more stiff and better made than the Classics that all my students wear. I bought my true size and they felt a little snug at first, but after 3 wearing (without socks), they fit perfectly. They are super sort inside and very warm - bring on Chicago winters! Oh, and although I ordered on a Saturday night, Zappos had them at my door by noon Monday for no charge. WOW!
